Hi Pineapple,
Not too sure about the parking as I don't know from which direction you'd approach London. Parking in London is a nightmare and very expensive, so I'd suggest you park on the outskirts of the Tube network and then come into town via public transport.
You can see the London Tube Map on the London Underground website (google this as I can't remember the www address off the top of my head).
Vintage/retro: Camden and Portabello Road markets are prob. the best places to head for, but again can be quite expensive. Seems everyone in London is into Vintage.
Best way to get around when you get here is to buy a 1 day travelcard, you'll probably need an all Zone one (1-6), this is valid for travel after 9.30 a.m and last all day. It'll cover both the tube and the buses. Again you can see full details on the LU website.
Hope this helps - enjoy London - to me the best place in the World.0 -
1. get the train or a bus
2. Camden Market
3. get a family railcard so you can get cheap tickets
4. maybe someone here knows where there are a few good charity shops...?Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

What day of the week are you coming? There's plenty of free parking at the weekend, almost none in the week.0

I agree that Camden lock market is the best for what you want. Sunday (come v early am) is really the best the day to drive into London as a lot of parking restrictions (permit parking) in the side roads are lifted. However parking available still fairly limited, so arrive early would be my advice and plan to have breakfast in London. The roads are a lot quieter (early am) and there is no congestion charge on Sundays.

Forgot to say be careful where you park as on the same road there might be one bit that says permit holders only Mon-Sat until Sun 8am and another is later times. Same with parking meter spaces- You will find details on the metal poles in the road and on parking payment meters/points0 -

Firstly thanks everyone for your help.
I am going on a weekday so have decided to take the train,
found somewhere on here -a great offer from southern trains costing us £11.
Great info about the charity shops never thought about those however they sound brill, probably will have to come again to London, great tip about parking at the weekend and the conjestion charge.
infact everyone has been really helpful -lots of info for me to look into.
