BMW service charges! Please advice!!

Any advice welcome!! I'm getting very stressed over this!!

Just under 3 yrs ago I bought a Mini from BMW under one of these rental schemes where I had an annual mileage limit and would give the car back to them after the agreement ir oay the balance.

I decided to end my agreement early and they collected my car last week.
I have now received a bill for £750, telling me that the car was due for a service at 25000 miles, and on return it had done 25117!

This seems a bit steep to me! and to top it off, I had actually paid for the services in advance so would not of cost me anything.. (or will it cost them or the new owner as they now have the free vouchers!)
I don't think I've done bad in 3 years if this is all they can find to pull me uo on, as the car has had a through inspection for damage etc!

Can anyone offer any advice in what I can do?
Do cars generally have an allowance ofn miles that they can go over before a service? (it must be very difficult to get it serviced spot on the miles).

Thanks

Normally most manufacturers allow 1000 miles either way for your service intervals. Seems very steep what they are charging you, i would definately contest it.
  • I wouldn't pay that. I doubt any reasonable magistrate would consider it fair either.

Thats what I thought, I just can't understand where they have got this figure from!
It seems they have struggled to find any dents/damage etc to charge me for, so they are going to try and get anyhting they can!
I'm going to call them and give them a piece of my mind in the morning!

If it helps I can tell you what I've spent in 32 months and 37,000 miles on a new 320d which also has condition based servicing:
    19,000 miles oil service £138
2 years old brake fluid change about £100
    ... that's it!
Now on 37,000 miles and I'm about to pay for an inspection 1 and getting another oil service done a little bit early to avoid going back in again so soon.

If you paid for the servicing package up front you should not be paying anything and at 25,000 miles it's likely to be no more than an oil service and if 2 years old possibly brake fluid. Mini service schedule may be different, but most BMW's follow the same pattern as mine.

It seems like they are just trying to sting you for handing the car back early which they have no business doing.
