No way. Why should our taxes be spent on propping up the housing market

Oh yes, let's carry on spending 3 times the defence budget on propping up "the boom" - must be able to keep it going an extra day or two by not buying the proper kit for our forces. How much are flak jackets and nimrods these days..?

Fine by me. I think house prices need to be kept as high as possible in these times
Fine by me. Then I might be able to sell this fkn house and move on. Then I will change my vote..... honest.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Only Labour could think of a such a stupid idea. They already throw money around like confetti on lost causes but now the ultimate folly, wasting MY tax keeping house prices artificially high. What a shower of f*ckwits! I'm raging!

The poll answers with their follow-up statements are IMHO quite polarised - I personally stand somewhere in between.

The UK has had a housing bubble for the better part of the decade, and the credit crunch has sparked a process of correcting these prices. With house prices having shot up so quickly by so much, a natural (market) correction with today's high inflation as a factor could cause a major house price crash.

I am for the Government putting some taxpayer money into slowing down the fall in house prices but not keeping them high for too long, essentially 'weaning' the market into the housing correction. The latter would be a waste of our money, not like there's too much taxpayer money to go around with inflation undoubtedly hitting the Treasury as well.

Of course this is much, much easier said than done.

Racking up to 100 BILLION QUID so far - 3 times defence budget, 3 times policing budget - how much more before it gets past "some taxpayer money"..?

What's all the latest on this anyway? are we going to march on them? (i so how far, I might need someone to push a wheelchair for me,) can we have MSE house price forum flags and banners? I bet there is already one of those internet petitions about this...

Can we actually do sometihng about this for once instead of having the smae conversation over and over? I fear we are all preaching to the converted here!

I will aid with wheelchair if you like no problem!

Can we just do this? Dooz can arrange which pub we'll go to after ;)
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Well...how do we start? I remember from here the whatever Goths are called now had a webpage where they had times, dates etc. I couldn't set one of those up (no need to explain, you've all seen my typing! But I'm happy to be involved in any other way that would be helpful.

As for preaching to the converted, we'd need to find ways to reach out and get the other converted in the country to join us. Because a smallish group of people fom MSE isn't really going to convey any great sense of anger and frustration to the government.

ETA: BTW I can walk just fine but I'm not very fast and I have to wear proper walking shoes so don't worry lynzpower..I'll be hobbling along with everyone under my own steam.

The stupidity and greed of people in this country is sick and disgusting
    Here, here.

Of course, the criminals are being released early because our prisons are overcrowded. The government's solution? Build more prisons! But of course! (They do love building stuff, don't they?!)

Personally, I'd rather see law and order restored along with an increased sense of personal responsibility and social conscience but who are we to argue with those we've granted, and continue to fund, to uphold our sovereignty...

Is there that much money left in the country's coffers?
