Can't Open/Find Pictures From CD

A friend has sent me a CD with some pictures they have taken. I can open the thumbnail J-peg's (20KB read only) but can't when I try to open the J-pegs (1KB read only) there is nothing there. Also, this happens when I try to open various TIFF images. Hopefully it something to do with my lack of technical know how! Is there some additional software I need or as my friend saved them so I can't access them?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

You'd normally expect the thumbnails to be much smaller than the full-size images. Are you sure that the thumbnails are 20K and the images 1K?

Ref The ones I can't open, looking in properties it says
Size 29 bytes (29 bytes); Size on disk 4.00 KB (4,096 bytes)
On the TIFF images it says
33 bytes (33 bytes)
4.00 KB (4,096 bytes)
If that helps? My friend wanted me to sell some items on eBay (I normally take pics with my digi camera and just then load them up no problem but my camera isn't brilliant, only good for small basic stuff).0 -
Sounds like he has only sent the thumbnail shortcuts, a common mistake.0

Yep, I agree that sounds like the most likely explanation.

Thanks for all the advice. I have downloaded Irfanview but this doesn't seem to let me access the TIFF files, should it? As I am intending to put these images on eBay, is there a free hosting site that will let me upload these images so I can then use them for listing? Or is it the case that my friend will have to save these images as j-pegs (no shortcuts) so I can use them?0

Yes, click on Options, Set file associations
It does sound like you have only been sent the thumbnail links as previously stated.
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
