Car insurance change during year?
My car insurance was up for renewal shortly after someone drove into the back of my car and wrote my car off.
As a result of this my insurance for this year went up considerably as the other party did not admit guilt straight away so on the renewal it went down as claim not settled but my fault even though it clearly wasn’t!
They have now admitted it was there fault.
Should my current car insurance company give me some kind of refund or should I be trying to get this via my personal injury claim against the other driver?
Can I now change car insurance half way through the year or ask my current car insurance to re-quote me?

Hi
Get the other guy's insurance company to confirm in writing that they accept liability for the accident. You should then get a refund in the overpayment you had to make to your insurance company.
Alternatively ask your solicitor if he has already had a letter admitting liability from the other insurance company and get a copy of this sent to your insurance company.
Hope you get the refund pronto.0 -

My solicitor has just got a letter admitting liability from the other insurance company.

Hi - no need to wait until your injury claim is settled before you get your premium refunded.Just make sure your insurance company sees the letter from the other insurance company.
Wait till the next renewal of the policy before changing companies. If you cancel part way through the year you get clobbered for cancellation and administrative costs.0
