Hiya all

Got myself in a pickle again!
What I did was;
Unplugged the AV Multi outlet connector and plugged in the HDMi cale, switched on, TV picture improved , swiched on PS3 put i a game, nothing!
Have checked instructions on using HDMi cable in both the TV instruction book (BraviaKDL 26U2000 1080i) it is saying to connect Video game equipment ,connect to the scart socket? However , the PS3 instructions dont mention that, the diagram is just plug n the HDMi and go?
Also I think what I did wrong was forgot to switch off all equipment before changing connections! I this the reason my PS3 wont work and if so, what can I do to remedy that?
Thank you to all who can help.

when the ps3 is in standby switch it off at the back > plug in HDMI cable > switch back switch to the on position > press and hold power button on the front until it bleeps (should be around 10 seconds).

you will get a low res picture but the ps3 will auto detect the best settings for you. this method will also reset the theme back to the default if you changed it
  • Hi, What Gaming Guy is describing is a hard system reset. When you have done this, you might need to go into display settings and deselect your resolution outputs. My kdl40x3500 would display 1080p when loading startup then downgrade to 720p when loading game.

Do I need both or not? No point proceeding with this until I have the cable/s correctly set up.

if you want it via HDMI, use the hdmi lead. the ps3 will auto detect any available outputs and output the image to them

Thanks Gaming Guy for your help

Have now created a secondary problem with the PS3. Was working fine today until I put in a PS2 game with previously saved data on it, however the PS3 said' Insert memory card or play without saving' Then a message said some thing about the Hard Drive with option yes/No, my grand daughter pressed Yes and now all my PS2 games wont play with saving on the Hard drive only memory card. The PS3 on HDMI6 is set at 576( is that resolutions) it did this after I changed the settings to HDMi.
I am now totally confused and very upset as I have over 25 PS2 games which are played regularly and all have game saves on them.
Is there anyway to re configure anything, what happened to the hard drive for it to be wiped clean?
    Please, please HELP.

renegade - check your virtual ps2 mem card is still on your HDD, and remember to assign slots to slot 1 before loading your ps2 games....

    Gunjack, thanks for that.
I have checked and all the game saves are shown on the ps2 games saves utility, but when I play them the saves are not there?
What I have done is created a second New Internal Memory Card, and deleted all the old game saves ( no point them being there if they are not 'saved')
Funnily enough all the PS3 game saves are ok.
Another ?- when inserting a PS2 game the 1080i fluctuates depending on what game it is- why is this? Also, some of the games are playing in a slightly slow motion mode making it difficult to focus properly?

It's the way the ps2 emulation is done in the ps3 - and the games are all lower resolution than hidef, so they'll never be quite as good running on the ps3 and it can lead to the slow motion effect - try playing Resi 4 mercenaries when it does that !!!
