Help with mitreing,(sp) some moulding?

I need to put some narrow moulding around a cupboard. Got the moulding and a new wooden mitre block but cannot get the flipping corners 'true'! Any tips please? What is the best kind of saw to use? Been using a.....ermmm.....is it called a fretsaw...(little blade clips on bottom), not very successfully! The slots in the mitre block seem far too wide allowing the saw too much play....getting very cross now......

I would use a tenon saw. Better still would be a mitre saw but it would cost about £12 in DIY stores.

You need a mitre saw. What you are using is a mitre jig for cutting larger things like plaser coveing. You can get a cheap one for about a tenner.

A good tip is to use some mitre fast setting wood glue to hold the joints together.

Another good tip is to cut the piece of wood slightly bigger than needed, only by a couple of mm, then test the mitre, it is easier to cut off a little more than try to replace what has been cut off.
