Help with mitreing,(sp) some moulding?

I need to put some narrow moulding around a cupboard. Got the moulding and a new wooden mitre block but cannot get the flipping corners 'true'! Any tips please? What is the best kind of saw to use? Been using a.....ermmm.....is it called a fretsaw...(little blade clips on bottom), not very successfully! The slots in the mitre block seem far too wide allowing the saw too much play....getting very cross now...... icon8.gif
