I saw an item on ebay I wanted. Emailed buyer (in America) re: postage costs. She stated them and said she would only accept cheque in dollars from people outside US - I told her I was in UK.
No other bidders and I won the item. When pay now came up, it stated she would only accept postal orders. I emailed what kind of payment did she want? Terse reply - I said all US bidders pay by paypal!
I emailed I am in UK I told you, I am only bidder, are you confusing me with someone? (I am very polite). Reply, sorry, you can pay by paypal now, had been having problems with them but its all set to go. It was not. So she emailed me to send it to her e mail address. This is the bit where I get really confused?
In all the kerfuffle did I send it to wrong email? She emails v. tersely, no money received by me Im not sending item. I said I dont expect you to let me sort it out. Go into paypal and they say you have to contact the email address yourself and ask for refund. Did this - email address does not exist!!
The email addresses are v. similar so I cannot remember if I did make a mistake.

She is in a right old strop - I have lost £22.83 - I emailed her lets just forget the whole thing, and sent an amount to cover the listing fees and fvf - I am so upset about the whole thing. My first bad experience on ebay and paypal.
If she files NPB I guess I shall have to take it on the chin. She has had 11 negs in a year. Should have followed my instinct
Aside from me being a fool etc, what do you think of the paypal situation and the email address not existing and do you think my money is lost forever???
Sorry for long saga

Has the payment been claimed? If not, you should be able to cancel it. If it has been claimed, you could try starting a chargeback, but I don't know how far you'll get with that. Otherwise you're at the mercy of the person you sent the payment to if you can eventually get hold of them. In future, go through the checkout and never pay by postal order, as you will have no protection through ebay. 0 and never pay by postal order, as you will have no protection through ebay. 0

The payment has been completed and it gives a name Linda.****and the person it was meant for is called Linda *****(different name). I wrote to paypal and explained the situation. Just have to see if they can contact the person? Two lessons learned no more stuff from America and never not use the checkout! A neg now on my record will be the icing on the cake!!! If you go into the transaction in paypal it will show the email address of th eperson you paid the money to. E mail them politely saying that you believe you have paid in error and could they please just hit the refund button and reimburse you.
If nothing has been resolved within 7 days start a chargeback.

Soolin thank you for that. I have tried to do this, but the email comes back as undeliverable!!!:( - it is in Paypals hands now - I can do no more - have given some money to cover listing and fvf - cant be fairer than that. The whole thing seems odd from start to finish. She has a bad attitude too, though lots of her feedback is positive, the people who have come a cropper like me say the same.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

As I think most of thi smess was caused by the seller I think you have been more than generous in paying the FVFs.
If you don't get a response from paypal by day 7 then just start the chargeback anyway.
