Decent ad-blocker

Recently renewed my Norton and invested in the newest one instead of ugrading the existing one on my system. Now, this has had the benefit of enabling me to use the downloading on 4OD and BBC iplayer but there isn't an ad-blocker on the most recent Norton. And it's driving me daft.

So far, I've tried

IE7 Pro, works until you click on another tab...
Firefox with a couple of plug-ins designed for disabling ads, don't much like it, it affects other things on the page.
I've gone into tools on IE and disabled animations on webpages but still get moving images

I've had ad-blocking for so long I've just got used to it and can't find a decent alternative, another advantage was that pages loaded so much quicker without ads - any ideas? Is there a decent user-friendly ad-blocker download anywhere?

Firefox with Adblock Plus will just block ads, nothing else. If it does happen to catch something that isn't an ad (very unlikely) then there's a button in the toolbar to show you all the content on the page. Find the thing thats unblocked, right click and 'add exception rule for item' and it won't be blocked. Though I've been using adblock plus for a year and a bit, its never blocked something thats unwanted on its own (Though my own attempts to block other things have caused problems, but thats my fault). Just get the easylist subscription and it should all be 100% ad free.
