Kcorp KLG575Router/530PCI Network adaptor

I have seen several posts praising the KLG 575 Router. It seems that ideally it should be married up with the 530PCI Network Adaptor card produced by the same manufacturer (the 108g version) - however several sites say that this item is out of stock/discontinued.
Does anyone know why this should be?

In then absence of the KLG530 - any suggestions what could be used instead? Also what about a non-wireless Network Adaptor card....ie using an ethernet wired link instead?

  • If you don't have to use wireless then don't. If you can live with having ethernet cable between your router and PC it's better, cheaper, faster, more reliable and more secure.

Thanks for your comments. I am considering setting up a wireless network at home for a system comprising a pc, which is located near my ntl cable modem, and 2 laptops - ordered but not yet arrived - both of which are wifi enabled. Following on from your comments, I see that there is no need (and shouldn't be!) for my pc to be wirelessly connected.

My cable modem is currently connected to my pc via a USB connection. I have also read/seen that ideally the modem should be connected via an ethernet link to the pc. The pc does not have an ethernet adaptor card but I can install one (any preferences/suggestions?) - a non wireless one! (that would work well with the KLG 575 router).

The ntl modem has both a usb socket (used currently) and an ethernet socket.

Assuming I fit a suitable ethernet card into my pc, would the set up then be:

    i)ntl cable to ntl modem
ii)ntl modem to KLG 575 Router (via ethernet wire link)
iii)KLG 575 router to a) - my pc via wired ethernet link to a newly installed ethernet card and b) - wireless links to the 2 new laptops

Here is a link to the KLG router - technical specs.....

I would be the first to admit they don't mean much to me! One immediate question for me is whether the KLG 575 can be linked by wired ethernet to my pc? (bearing in mind that it appears that the manufacture would expect the link to be via their wireless adaptor card - the KLG 530).

Oh yeah, see what you mean. How strange, I've dropped KCorp an email asking what's happened to it, and can they recommend a supplier.

I've got the KCorp KLG-575 and KLG-530 and have been very pleased with them. Especially compared to the Netgear DG834GT and WG111T I bought my parents, which have caused nothing but problems.

I have seen the KLG-530 stocked at one place (can't remember where) but it was £34. Bit steep considering I got mine for £23 from https://www.savastore.com (not long stock it).

Yeah, the KCorp has 4 ethernet ports on it. So you can either connect via wires, or wirelessly. With regards to wirless cards, I've also used other cards and hooked them up to my KLG-575 without any problems. I do like the KLG-530 though due to it's price and mine hasn't had a single problem.
