The Body Shop

I wonder if I am just getting old or if the Body Shop's standards are way below what they used to be before they were sold. They used to be the innovators when it came to recycling. Last time I went in there to recycle some bottles etc, they told me they would put them in the bin for me. When I asked if they'd be recycled, I was made to feel like if I wanted them to recycled, it would cost them money and put staff jobs at risk!
I think they've taken the biscuit today though. I received an email from them in response to an order I placed over the internet asking me to call them to verify my card details. Not ideal, but understandable, but the person I spoke to was exceptionally rude, even though I had to call them, and her grammar was appalling.
She said, on no fewer than six occasions: "We have to check a certain AMOUNT of orders every day". I couldn't help but say "do you mean 'number' not 'amount' and she kept shouting the same thing at me again and again. Like I say, maybe it's just me! I do feel better for ranting here though and won't be buying from them again!

But why did you have to ask, a bit obvious isn't it. By asking if they will do something you've a second ago asked them to do it would make them feel you didn't trust them.
Think that was your own fault a bit that one.0 -

The Body Shop was sold to L'Oreal a couple of years ago, so there was a lot of controversy over the ethical side of the take over, and many people made the decision to boycott it.
Body shop promoted products not tested on animals, and products with a purpose, rather than promoting fake idea of beauty. L'Oreal didn't share these same views, although apparently agreed to stick to them for the Body Shop section of their business.
I agree that things have slipped, and they don't seem to have the same caring attitude that they used to.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
I used to absolutely love the Body Shop - I have grown up (from a pre-teen) with their ethical stance, and "do you want a bag"...and I haven't set foot in one since they sold out. I mean, L'Oreal was pretty much the polar opposite of Body Shop in terms of animal testing etc so unfortunately they've lost my business. Which is good for Lush, at least! We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

Body Shop make me laugh.
I signed up to their loyalty card thing and I'll agree, I have saved £££ from having it, but....
1. The number of emails I get from them is staggering - about 5 a week. This is second only to the emails telling me that I could be doing so much more to statisfy the women in my life. I'm gay, so the only women in my life are my sister and my mother! Go figure!:rotfl:
2. When Body Shop send me emails, they try to get me to buy their new fragrance range online - why would I want to do this - I can't "Smell" the emails to see if I like the new fragrance.
3. The fact that they know my name is Simon, ought to direct them to the fact that I am male and hence I'd really like it if they could taylor their emails to the male side of their product range. I might be gay but have no wish to smell of magnolias.
But all in all, they are OK.

PS As for Lush, I've found that if I go in their shops and act like a stereotypical queen, the assistants love it so much that I invariably walk out with loads of freebies. Well it works in the Worcester branch anyway!NIL ILLEGITIMUS CARBORUNDUM!Nov Grocery Challenge: £0.00 / £150.00

HA HA HA!!!!
No, I distinctly remember signing the form "Simon"!!!
Seriously though, of all the emails they've sent me, not one has been for something from their "BodyShop for Men" range. A little one sided methinks!
Do you think I could sue them for discrimination?:rotfl:

strumpet - I've had some real doozies of people misspelling my name before, even when I have spelt it out correctly on forms, etc.0

It's not the best grammar, but I wouldn't call it appalling...0 -
