Capital One Platinum card query (applying)

I cancelled my Capital One platinum card about 3 weeks ago and was told that as soon as the letter confirming the closure of my account arrived, I would be able to reapply for it again. But I'm not so sure of this since the general advice is to reapply 6 months after closing an account. Any thoughts? When I cancelled I said it was because I was looking for another 0% card, and they wouldnt offer me this when I asked, but said I could reapply.
