transfer files from pc to pc

I have just bought a new pc as my old one was on a go slow, how do I transfer all my files from my old pc to my new ones,,,,, not very pc savvy sorry!!!!!!!!

The simplest way is to use a USB key drive (or any type of external storage), copy the files onto it, then copy them onto the other PC.

This is fine for amounts of data up to a couple of times the capacity of the key drive, but for large amounts of data it is rather laborious - and if you have any single files that are larger than the capacity of the key drive you will have to compress and/or split them.

Other, faster, methods include setting up a small network or installing the old PC's hard disk in the new PC. Both of these require some level of expertise.

Easiest way will be physical, either a USB flash drive or rewritable CD if you have either of these. Next way is through your network. Check This thread for file sharing, you should be able to get it done with one of these methods.
The extreme solution is to remove the hard drive from the older PC, stick it into the newer one, copy them over, then stick it back in the old PC.

if its XP there is a built in tool called files and settings tranfer wizard in accessories, system tools. If not we may need to know what operating systems are in use and what other hardware there is in use (router etc)

I purchased a portable drive and transfered all files that I wanted to keep on that, uses USB connector as a seperate power source.
