Hi there,
I use my laptop as a dvd player using a cable from the tv out to my tv via those red, yellow and white ends, was working fine yesterday however tried to watch a dvd tonight and no picture is getting through.
I have tried turning my laptop off, on different tv's, checked the cable
its a sony laptop which is a year and 12 days old (12 days past warranty!!!) normally when you switch to the tv option it will decrease the window on my laptop but thats not even happening now!
Any ideas on what i could do would be much appreciated.
thanks

Try doing a system restore incase something is conflicting with it0
-
no change after restoring my system to well before it stopped working, thanks for the idea though0

check for missing drivers... Right click my computer icon on the desktop and choose properties, now go to the hardware tab noe click device manager, are there and yello or red exclamation marks in there.0

no yellow or red exclamation marks there but no mention of tv-out there either, do i need to do a partial restoration with my orignal boot up cd0

Hang on a mo, did you install any other software with the setup ?
As you might have a CD with the drivers on.? Or it could be on the XP CD as
the driver might be there but just take things slow and methodical :beer:0 -
cheers yer ! Just know i'll probably end up starting from scratch !!! that'll be a fun few hours !!!
ok my xp came on my recovery disk - the only cd i have for my laptop.
So what driver am i missing exactly - is it just called tv-out??0 -
Ok what laptop is it I might be able to track down the driver if it has one
also I would blow out all the connections, just incase any dust is there.
So its make and model of lappy.0 -
thanks again, tried blowing and cleaning everything first off, was the first time it had been cleaned in a while but had no effect

there's the list of applications i can reinstall via my recovery disk but wouldn't know which one to chose.
My laptop is a Sony Vaio PCG - K215S0 -
WinDVD
DVGate
Vaio Media Single Installer
As it could be an issue with either of these, I shall check though, so no rush.0
