Some detergent you usually put in the washing machine will get your dishes clean! Just a tablespoonful or a wee bit more should be sufficient, and use in the same way as if it were dishwasher powder. Biological would be ideal if you have any, but non-bio should work too.

I think I read on here that you can use a small amount of clothes washing powder (for the washing machine - Persil etc) Don't know if I would do it, however, as I might be scared it would damage the machine. You could always leave it loaded, put it on the pre - wash cycle, the one that just rinses it, and get the dishwasher powder tomorrow and put it on the hottest setting.

I use washing powder regularly in my dishwasher - does it no harm at all.

I sprinkle a good tablespoon on to the door before closing and sparkly dishes!

Does your dishwasher need a clean? Sometimes that can hinder the washing powder. I sprinkle some soda crystals in the empty machine and stick it going every couple of weeks to de-gunge......

    Hiya :)

Look in the Appliances section of the MEGA Index sticky - there are a few threads there about cloudy glasses and gritty finishes.

There may be more help on the In My Home board.

I cut my dishwasher tablets in half, as long as i havnt overloaded the DW everything comes out clean. In an emergency, will soda crystals clean the dishes, instead of using washing powder? (seeing that they help clean the dishwasher itself!!!)
