alliance leicester annoy me!

I transferred over a £1000 to go from a plus saver account with them online to my premier current account on the 1st aug so bills would be covered. Imagine my surprise when they charge me £25for a bill paid for the council - yet online it shows as going out after the credit (which I know they say online its not accurate) . So I have complained via secure message that they should process credits before debits and I arranged the credit days before the 1st aug.
Really annoyed.

To cap that I applied for a flex account with nationwide in June and I have only just got a chequebook and card - what took them so long?

Banks are more trouble than they are worth.

i,m really fed up with them too,

i got a letter charging me £25 for the same reason...

i had plenty of money in the day before, but not quite enough (another story) and i had a regular payment go into the account that day..

so on my statement i had plenty in, but because of how they process i went over by £30, i wouldnt mind but the money that went over into my account that day came from A&L as well,,

and the bloke on the phone had the cheek to say it was my own fault as i should make sure there is enough money in my bank account, and the charge would stand... its a bills account and there is always enough money to cover my monthly bills..

I am currently waiting to have £25 refunded to me, which apparently they're going to do. I don't like A&L either, just use them for the 8.5% premier direct account and the 12% regular saver. I find their internet banking hard to use, so consequently set up a payment of £799.51 from my premier current account instead of my premier direct current account. Lady on the phone said she could see what happened, because i'd transferred 799.51 from my plus saver to my premier direct to cover the payment, so i;d be refunded.
  • They sent a secure message back saying debits are processed in the morning before credits. I told them how silly that was. The credit was arranged days before of over a £1000 and they processed it last. I told them if I did not have enough money in they should refuse my direct debit - not charge me £25 to pay it. Also when your online banking is down you cannot go into a branch and transfer money over - how silly is that? You need a backup system in place surely? I have now got a flex account from nationwide but its took them two months to even send me a card and cheque book!!

Alliance & Leicester said they are sending my refund request to a special department and they will reply by letter - yet costing them more money!
