Oh how I wish we could buy milk this cheap from Tesco, here milk price is set by the milk board and where ever you buy it in the country it has to be sold at a fixed price 54p/pint atm nobody is allowed to legally sell it for more or less and the likes of Tesco etc cannot import milk (or even meat for that matter) from the UK as this is illegal. Mind you it does have advantages, the milk is very fresh, a high percentage of the population use doorstep delivery (no charge for delivery) as it always arrives before 7am everywhere, the quality is consistant and high, store chains cannot dictate prices to farmers and rip them off.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

If the law changed and Tesco could import cheaper milk they would still sell it to you for 54p per pint. They know you are prepared to pay 54p a pint so that''s what they would charge. They would make more money because they would be paying the farmers less for it but still selling at the same price.Mind you it does have advantages, the milk is very fresh, a high percentage of the population use doorstep delivery (no charge for delivery) as it always arrives before 7am everywhere, the quality is consistant and high, store chains cannot dictate prices to farmers and rip them off.
If shops started importing cheap milk from the Uk how many farmers would go out of business? How many farm workers/milkmen would be out of a job?
More unemployment would mean wages go down. This always happens when there are more workers than jobs, the jobs go to those who are willing to work for the lowest wages.
If I were you I would be grateful for what I have, and thankful I don't live in a country run by Ant & Dec.
Don't envy us, it's you who is the lucky one.0 -
Did they finally get rid of the pointless 3 liter of 0.75% milk with an expiry date only a few days in the future? Who would need that much milk?
I Have used it an its Ok. Tend to go for the best offer at the time.I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!0 -
