N&SI tax free savings

In one of the the pension threads someone mentions N&SI tax free savings. What are the interest rates on these and is there a maximum you can have a year. I have looked at the N&SI website but I am not quite sure I have understood it correctly. Would appreciate your help.

There are several tax-free products from NS&I. However, I assume you are referring to Index Linked Savings Certificates (since they are by far the best). The current issues offer an interest rate of RPI+1% tax-free. You can put £15k in each of the 3 & 5 year issues. There are usually a few issues per year. You get no interest if you sell the certs in the first year.
