Exterior Doors

Hi there

I'm looking to buy an exterior door to replace my rear door. I currently have a door that looks like this

My dog has scratched and ruined the outside of this door and it badly needs replaced, plus the man who hung the door done a really bad job it's lopsided, bowed (I've no idea what that means but my joiner uncle told me) and doesnt have those brush things at the bottom so a massive gap and draught coming through

I've measure this door several times and it's 80 inches by 33 inches, so 2032mm x 838mm. The problem being I cant find any doors this size

I can find smaller heights and perfect width or vice versa, my uncle is so busy he cant even fit me in to do it for me, so am going to be doing it on my own. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it

Thanks
Cate

have you tried your local builders merchants
they will have a bigger stock of doors or will be able to order you one
then get a carpenter to fit it for you

Piggybacking this - anyone heard of Rock Doors? Are they any good? Better than standard UPVC doors?

We are looking at rockdoors as well for our front door. Been told by everyone that I have spoken to that they are great - except for one window company that didnt like them (but didnt sell them so they would say that!).

Expensive though at around about £1200!

Cate have you tried your local Freecycle?

I got a garage door from there as people are having replacement UPVC doors all the time. It was almost new and OK, it has a post box, but it's a rear garage door and that doesn't matter!

You could also try a replacement window/door fitter as they often have doors they've taken out that they'll give you for £5 or £10.

It's worth a look. I've hung doors before and they're still there!
Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!
