Graduate Accounts

Hi

Does anyone know when the "Best Graduate Accounts" page is going to be updated? My student account with Natwest was upgraded to a graduate one automatically in June and I'd quite like to know if I should switch. Does anyone have any advice about the best accounts to have?

Thanks

  • I was waiting for that article to be updated as well! I am with RBS and have stuck with them for their graduate account after looking around at the bigger banks deals. Admittedly they were last years ones, but if they change dramatically i can always change accounts!

RBS have upped my interest free overdraft to £2000 for the first year, and I have also taken out a £1000 graduate loan repayable over 12 months (at approx 7.7% with them) which i deferred payments on for a couple of months till i started work. They also have a load of discounts for gigs, holidays and insurance that you can apply for (i have never tested this service out though!!)

Natwest have a similar deal to RBS. Lloyds have a good deal which includes a £2000 OD and a £500 credit card, but i have had problems with them in the past!! So i made the choice not to go with them! Barclays charge a £5 a month fee so would not recommend that account!!

I know thats all a bit basic, but i thought i may as well pass my very limited knowledge onto you!!
    Debts (Paid Off/Total Debt): Graduate Loan (7.9%) £160.49/1000, Credit Card (29.9%) £290/350, Graduate Overdraft (0%) £0/£2000, Parents £0/£1000
    Savings (Saved/Target Savings):ISA (6.5%) £3600/£3600, Regular Saver (10%) £25/£200 per month

i actually PM'ed martin about it and he said it was in the process of being looked at. don't know when exactly it'll be ready but soon!

the only other advice is to avoid HSBC like the plague!

Thanks for all the advice. Hope the account info will be up soon.
  • Graduate accounts are probably not that competitive to be honest. It will be interesting to read the article once it has been researched.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
