Can I Take on my girlfriends store cards?

Basically as per the title! My girlfriend has approx £1600 on store cards and paying it off slowly due to the ridiculous APR - I suggested a credit card to do a 0% balance transfer, but she has poor credit (due to a !!!! up by her dad!). so I wondered if I could transfer the balance to a credit card and get the 0% or can that only work on debts already in my name?
Also I just thought, if it's not that easy could i take out a new credit card, pay her loan on my current one and then transfer that balance onto my new one (hope that made sense!) or is there some pitfall there I'm missing?!
Thanks in advance!

I think you are asking if you can transfer the debt on your girlfriend's card over to your own.
In this case the answer is yes, you can transfer debts from your girlfriend's card, your parent's card or even just one from Dave down the pub (he may even buy you a beer  ).
However please be aware that once the debt is on your card, you are solely liable for making repayment and your girlfriend then has no obligation to assist in making the payments.0 -
hi Tom.
Been there and done that paying off my old girlfriends debt.
As the above poster said, word of caution - it will become your debt. I did this with an old girlfriend who I've been dating for about 4 years, needless to say it felt like just as long to get back off her and she didn't legally have to as I had no written agreement with her.
Just be careful.0
