From feedback here, NatWest only reports accounts which are in arrears. In other words, customers who have a good credit history, leave no trace whatsoever.

You can contact the bank - there's no harm in asking - but you cannot insist it reports your account(s) to a particular credit reference agency. The decision rests with NatWest.

Thank you Moiggles, this is very useful information and much appreciated

Absolutely. For links and tips, see page 1 of the *How to obtain credit reports* sticky
Once you know what lenders see, you are in a better position to improve their opinion ;)

Thanks moggles, I was able to check my report yesterday. It all looks fine, every card is the green satisfactory rating which says no late payments. So I think Ill cancel the store card I might have had a problem with as I heard it was better to keep them in it was a bad one as the history doesnt go back as far.
Going to get on electoral role for new address and everything should be ok.
Bit cross I had a search for direct line whos car insurance I didnt even get, I pay mine in a lump sum so didnt even need it for my real insurer gr!

Im fine to cancel my credit report now right? Nothing more I can do with it is there and dont want to pay

    thanks again

Natwest has been reporting to all three CRAs my Step Account since June 2009. All green 0s.

This is nothing to worry about. Searches associated with car insurance quotes are classed as unrecorded enquiries, not credit checks. These are shown for your information, so you know which firms have searched your file, but they're not seen by other lenders. They have no effect on your credit rating

    Yes, I would cancel.

You're not eligible for a second free trial, but the CRAs have a statutory obligation to provide you with your credit file and charge no more than £2, should you want to check again at some point ;)

  • Hi

I posted this in another area..Just found this thread so thought I'd post it here as it seems more relevant (Sorry, don't mean to spam, other thread can be deleted if need be)

    Anyway, hope you can help...

I'm currently trying to get a mortgage with my boyfriend, however there has been a problem with my credit scoring. I have checked my credit reports and there is a listing from Redcat (Brands) Limited. I have checked my records (I don't throw anything away like that) and I can't find anything relating to this company at all and cannot match the dates with anything else.
Missed payments lasted for around 9 months, and the entire agreement totalling 14 months, being settled in Jul 07.
Another issue I have is that the name on this is Mrs. I am a Miss, and I am listed as Miss on all my other credit agreements.
Does anyone have any ideas what to do next? I've searched the internet for Redcat and understand they have many companies under them, but from the info I've managed to find, I've never had anything from them.
I need to find out what it is and if this is even mine, and have it removed from my credit rating.

Any help would be great, as it's looking like we're going to lose the house we have our eye on :(

    Thanks
  • I have just received a full refund for credit card charges which has cleared my account - can i ask for the account to be closed and all records of the account to be removed from my credit reference files due to the card company accepting the charges were unfair and having returned them? All the money on the account was obviously made up of their charges and interest.

Do i ask the card company to remove them if i can?

Congratulations on getting a full refund.

Provided that you kept up the minimum payments required during this dispute, your credit history is not affected.

  • Hi there,

I received an alert from exuifax about some derogatory data put on my file by my credit card company... This was a mistake on there part and has been cleared up.. The is nothing on my actual credit file when I ordered it and the card company said they have removed all the data they added...

but the derogatory part is still on the alerts page!! I'm going to be looking for a morgage in a few days and am worried that the mistake by my credit card company could effect this...

So my question is, If it's only on my alerts page will lenders see it??

All advicE is very much appreciated!!

No, it's there for your information only and is not seen by lenders ;)
