You can sign up for free 30 day trials with Experian and Equifax, and Noddle is free for life.

Otherwise you can pay £2 to see your statutory reports with Experian and Equifax.

    Thanks Matttye.

I've signed up for Experian and waiting for my pin before I see. Is Noddle any good, and do oyu have to wait before you view it, like Experian?

I found out that all companies have their own ratings threshold, but still, I've always had good credit history and it is bugging me what has happened lately which has dropped, because I can't think what I've done myself, and never missed payments

Why do you think it's "not secure"? It uses HTTPS, standard for website encryption

Okay, that's strange. The reason I thought it wasn't secure was because my computer's security software warned me that I was typing my credit card into an unsecure website. Sure enough, there was no green lock in the address bar & the address didn't start "https". I used the address quoted in Barclaycard's letter turning me down for a credit card.

This morning, I went to the Experian site via a Google search and it does seem to be secure this time. So, presumably just a weird, momentary problem with the site's security.

So I completed the process and apparently I have a score of 990 which Experian reckons is low risk. So, why has Barclaycard turned me down? Is it okay to apply elsewhere, or will that negatively affect my rating?

    Thanks

Up until 2008 my husband & I had a pretty good credit rating; in 2008 we bought an ex local authority house which required large amounts of work to ensure that it was habitable for us and our two young children. The amount of work was not obvious at time of viewing and was not highlighted during the survey carried out. Any savings we had were put down as a deposit on the property, which therefore led to us having to take out a number of credit agreements to enable repairs to be done, which in turn left us with very little disposable income on a monthly basis leading us to have buy any clothes, shoes, electrical products from mail order catalogues :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Making the minimum payment to these every month became more difficult and we had to contact the companies to arrange payment agreements to which we try to stick to every month i.e. payments are due every 28 days but mostly we only manage to pay them monthly; we have contacted them asking them to increase the 28 day payment slightly to take account of the late payments and enable us to pay on a monthly basis rather than every 28-days. They have refused this offer meaning our payments are late every month; we're trying our very best to get out of the difficult situation we are currently in by moving back in with my parents for a few months to save a deposit for a new house to provide our kids with the security they need and deserve.

Sorry for the rant, but if possible, please can someone tell me if these late payments & agreed payment plans are going to have a hugely adverse effect on our credit rating leaving us unable to obtain a mortgage in the next 12 months?

    Thank you x

I spent years building my credit score, I currently sit at 999 with experience but still cannot get credit. I've banked with natwest since being 14, they won't even consider me for credit, lloyds for 4 yrs, same story. Always worked, always paid on time, no arrears.any payment issues have been resolved promptly.....yet people I know who have been on debt consolidation have credit cards thrown at them.

Been trying for 5 years to build up to get a BTL mortgage on property of approx 50k, have 10k deposit & 1 property with solid rental income for 3 years....no one will touch me

Thats because credit scores mean nothing lenders especially mortgage lenders will have their own criteria.

Conisme, any time I have been declined & asked for a reason they tell me it's due to credit score & tell me to refer to experian...... So I took to printing my full report out the day of meeting with lenders to show them the score etc, still they blame my credit report. I just think its a get out of jail free card.

Like I say, never been out of work, never been in debt, banked with same people for years...... To me it's like the lottery

  • Hi

I am going to apply for a mortgage very soon and wanted to check my credit score. The Equifax free trial provided me with a credit report and credit score, which shows up two major weaknesses:

Electoral roll - I have applied to be added to the electoral roll but it has not yet been processed.

Current address - I am currently living with my brother having left a rental property in June. The credit score page shows that I have no registered credit accounts at this address (although I have changed my current and credit accounts and mobile phone contract to my brothers address). Is there something I can do to improve this? The only way I can see around this is if I apply for a new credit card asap with my current address, but I'm not sure what impact the extra credit card and the credit search it will require will have on my overall score.

    Can anybody offer some advice?

    Thanks

i got a 2/5 score on call credit site. is this bad? everything has always been paid on time and i have 2 in use credit cards and one loan that ends in 2 months. everything has green dots against it. I'm a homeowner with 2 kids and full time employment at around 26k a year. nothing payment wise is ever missed or late. should my score not be higher?
  • I have just 1 CCJ (£405) on my report which is due to come off my report in Feb 14, all other accounts (cards x 2, car finance, very and littlewoods) are paid on time each month and I dont fully use all available credit but my score is still really low... should it improve after Feb next year?
