  • hi

    just after some advice really.

I am in huge debt around 12 grand in credit card debts. I told my dad and he really helped me out and I managed to pay 10 grand of it off.

My husband doesn't know any of this and I wanted to keep it hidden from him.
Until he had the idea of applying for mortgages etc and see where we stand, Iv started having heart palpitations.

I only paid off these debts last week. I checked my credit file on noddle.co.uk and its still showing up. After having a look around I can see that it seems to update after a month etc.
To top it all off on one of my cards I have missed 3 payments.
Also we are not on the electroral role we moved out for a bit then moved back i dont know how that makes a difference.

    I suppose my question is
when my credit file is run on the system what kind of things am I going to be told in terms of lending.

will my credit file be more updated on their systems, rather than the independent ones?
what will they say in terms of the 2 grand that I still owe?

any advice wud be great as I am started to go into panic mode ....
    :(

hello, can anyone help me please. i have been out of work for 8 months and my credit score is very bad at the moment. i am due to start work again in 6 weeks and am earning enough to really tackle my debts.

i currently have a debt management plan to which i pay £60 a month. is it better to up what i pay this company each month or choose an individual debt each month and repay in full or a large chunk of it?

i have a car on finance that i am wanting to swap for a newer one and i want a better credit score before i attempt this.

any help is much appreciated .

    thanks

You'll only get an accept or a reject based on their credit score. They won't tell you why and they won't disclose anything in the report.

The missed payments may be a problem but with a mortgage application, the credit score is not as important as affordability and unless you have anything like a CCJ or a default or they can't identify you, I doubt you would be declined a mortgage on this alone.

The outstanding debt is taken into account as part of the affordability so you should declare it on the application as it will be available to the lender in your credit report

    Hello can anyone offer advice?

I am about to move house to temporary accommodation and will shortly be applying for a mortgage (I already have agreement in principal)

Basically, I am tied into a BT contract for phone/infinity service and BT cannot provide service at my temporary accommodation. They say this means i can cancel without cancellation charges. However, I am wondering if this will affect my credit rating because I am cancelling early? The contract doesn't end until Feb 2014.

    Thanks

It will make no difference but don't cancel your DD and check that when they say you can cancel they don't mean that you have to pay up the remainder of the contract
  • Hey, I have just been on Noddle and checked my credit as I have been turned down for a loan.

I'm hoping that someone on here can explain how it works and if I can rectify a couple of issues.

My noddle rating is 1/5. 5/5 being the best! All credit that I have is either settled or up to date except for one item, a default - value £100! So I assume that this £100 owed has caused this bad credit rating for me!

The 'default' I believe is from an old mobile phone contract taken in Mar 2007. In Feb 2009 I wrote to cancel the contract. I also moved in the same month. I have had no correspondence since. The lender is now marked as 'lowell'. Is there any way of getting the default removed? How do I go about this?

Also there is my ex partner listed in 'connections'. We did have a joint account back in 2007 (the last confirmed date listed is also 2007) in 2008 I signed forms and removed myself from the account and he signed to take responsibility for the account on his own (it was a current account). He has poor credit and at the time owed over £9k! Will this still affect me? I have gone to the current account provider and they will not give any details about the account as I am no longer on it. How do I get this off of my credit file?

Could it be a combination of both issues that cause my low score? Can this be sorted :( I am so careful with credit and have everything on direct debit so I don't miss payments!

    Hi

My partner has just been rejected for a mobile phone contract with Orange because of the credit check they did.

She only has a small arranged overdraft, no credit card, no mortgage or other debt. Having looked at advice here and elsewhere it looks like the issue must be mainly that she has various addresses listed for various things, eg. driving licence, some bank accounts and electoral roll at family's home, new bank account and council tax at current rented home, some other things still at previous rented home.

So, today we've gone through and changed everything into our current address where we live and registered with the electoral roll here too.

The question is, how long will it be before it is worth her applying for a mobile phone contract again? We're aware that it would be bad to have several rejections on your credit record in a short space of time so really don't want her to end up with this.

Essentially how long before the changes of address are taken into account on the credit record?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi!

I need some help, and I've been thinking about this for a while.

About two years ago I was at uni and about to move out - I checked my own credit score with Experian, because I was told the letting agency wouldn't do it themselves (turned out they did).

I checked it and it was perfect, and I emailed Experian to cancel before I'd start to get charged, but apparently it's run by robots or no one at all and I never received any reply.

I emailed a further 5 times and rang about 20x and probably more, got increasingly annoyed, and in the end I got charged for 3 months of membership and had a huge phone bill.

In the end even my personal banker had trouble getting through, they couldn't get my money back and we had no choice but to completely close that bank account to stop them taking payments.

Seems extremely ironic, but could this issue with Experian have affected my credit score?

I sincerely hope not, because I went through a lot of trouble to cancel, which they said I'd be able to before the trial ran out, and then ended up being ignored potentially, scammed out of almost £50 and the letting agents ran up my credit score in about 2 minutes right in front of me!

(I've moved house twice since, and applied for various things with my bank and my credit score has passed every time - I'm just worried it may affect me in the future when I apply for a mortgage or finance on something, etc)

Thanks to anyone who would like to ease my mind!

    :)

After changing jobs in December, which meant having to relocate and move back in with parents temporarily I've been trying to obtain my credit report since Jan/Feb time and all to no avail

How do you guys manage to get hold of these things????

I've tried, CallCredit, Equifax and Experian probably once a month since January and every time I fill in all of the required info only to get a message saying I need to call a 5p per minute number to complete the report. I tried calling once and was on hold for ten minutes before giving up.

I've e-mailed all three and asked them if there is any way I can get round this only to be told I can fill out the forms manually, and they either never arrive, or they arrive and my returned forms never seem to reach them, or they will only accept utility bills as proof of identity, which have to have to be addressed to my current address. When I relocated I moved back in with parents so I don't have these.

I've also tried noddle and that site crashes every time I get half way through.

I'm desperate to have access to my reports as I can't move out of my parents until I can get a mortgage, but don't want to start the application until I've checked all is on on my credit file.

I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall :(
