My credit file is still showing a balance but has a settlement date.

As one credit file is showing a zero balance and another is not, the original lender is saying it's up to the Reference Agency to correct the error. (they said they would have provided the same information at the same time to all CRA's)

The Reference Agency said it's up to the lender. (but they will investigate within 2-3 weeks but they may not be able to correct it with the lender saying so)

Can I be reimbursed for my time and inconvenience? Who is ultimately responsible?
  • Having problems getting my loan agreement numbers going back since the 1990s. Did SAR with £10 but they only sent statements since 2006. I was thinking by requesting a copy of my credit report I might have more luck...but how far back does a report go + which is the best company to use and has anyone had problems when it came to cancelling after the free trial period? Thanks
  • Hi guys, My question is; I have been working abroad for nearly 5 years 2005-2010, during that time I had no credit cards or anything and closed my current account but I was on the electoral roll in 2003-4. When I came back I had to open a new bank account, my credit file shows that because I have had no history I've got very low credit rating. Any help? Thanks
  • Just paid the £2 for my credit report. I have my sister down as a "financially linked" to me, this is due to her applying for a loan jointly in my name in 2006 (I had no knowledge at the time!).

She never got the loan but has since had an IVA so I'm quite keen to not be associated with her (in a credit sense).

How do I go about removing her from my credit file?

    Cheers

    (a) Managed to cancel my Equifax trial with just a free phone call (they did try to offer their credit alert service but I declined)

    (
    b) Despite some resistance Credit Expert did eventually sort out / amend my credit report to a correct nil balance. (took around 10 days)

    (
    c) Cancelled Credit Expert trial with no bother free phone call and (just an offer of their credit alert but declined) received a confirmation email.
  • I applied to a new account and got rejected so did credit checks. My equifax is all green and accounts are settled/ satisfied. When using experian I have two accounts that are defaulted, these are settled and no money is owed, although it says satisfied at the side. How come it still says default? How can I change it? Help please
  • I am rebuilding my credit following bankruptcy, i managed to get a vanquis credit card, and kept paying it off, they have now increased my limit to 1500 and an outstanding balance of 300 (which will be cleared next payday) I have just applied for and been succesful in a "luma" card and a barclaycard. Purely to show some activity on my credit report, i have no intention of getting into trouble again, im a far wiser man now!! Anyway, this got me thinking to check my credit report, which i did, and it shows the vanquis card and all is excellent on the repayments etc, also it shows the acceptance of the 2 other cards, but i havent had them yet so no history. Now my credit score is 393, which i believe is fair. but im wondering how high it has to be before i can look at applying for a normal mortgage, not a high interest one. And does anyone know at what kind of rate do these scores increase? any inout is greatly appreciated
    Regards

  • I have just finished paying an IVA and would like to increase my credit rating as clearly it's shot to pieces-my understanding is I need to get a credit card and try to borrow again and pay back succesfully...Is it right that the IVA will effect my credit rating for 6 years from when I finished paying it- or is it the date where I started paying it, or is it forever?
My boyfriend who has had no credit rating issues would like us to get a joint account but I have no idea how my bad credit rating will effect his good one if at all? And would that improve mine? Also I would like to be included on the mortgage for our home but I'm not sure if this is possible due to my IVA- I'm in general super confused as to who to ask these questions too, I'm not very 'money clever' & Sometimes reading up is a bit like reading a different language (This is the 1st place where things make some sense!) Is there an advice line where I can talk to a real person about my issues? I would appreciate any help!
  • I've just been turned down by t Mobil and orange for a phone contract, I was a bit surprised as have been with orange for years on contract, then PAYG for 2 years. Anyway, have done credit check and realised that I hadn't updated my address with orange. (yes, I'm a bit slow..)
My question, I've now got 2 searches which were turned down, but having corrected the problem (I think), can I go and try again for the contract, or do I need to wait?
    Thanks in advance
  • Just used the Credit Checker. Amazed to see that it says I have an EXCELLENT Credit Score and should have no problems getting any credit I apply for. It should probably have asked me if I HAD A JOB or relied on benefit payments first! Just a thought.
