I am building my credit, pay my capital one card every month in full since october 2010. I purchsed something that made me go over my limit on the day the direct debit of my full balance was due to come out, i paid the difference that day and have been charged a £12 default over limit charge on my recent statement.
Will this totally wreck my credit history from now on? I am due to pay off a loan of 3grand next month and and then have no other debts/credit cards etc.0 -

However, I can't find any information anywhere as to whether such 'distress warrants' appear on credit files. Reason for asking is that the DW was issued incorrectly (the issuing centre have admitted this) and if it will appear on the credit file I'll take further steps to have it removed, but if not will let sleeping dogs lie.
Obviously CCJs go on a credit report, but does anyone know about DWs???
No if its for a fine nothing will appear on your credit file.
(the fine probably appears on the registery trust register of fines which anyone can search, but it won't affect your credit rating).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Were you back under your limit by the statement date? If so you might well find that nothing negative appears on your file.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
went over 29th June, 1st julys statement amount came out of bank by direct debit, i paid the difference that day also and back way under limit that day, so yes.. by next statement 8th july.
However it does show what has happened on my 8th july statement, and the £12 charge
does that make sense? im confusing myself now0 -
Just a quick question.....
I've just applied for my first passport earlier this week and have just received an update from equifax that the Identity and Passport Service have done a search against my credit file, can anyone shed some light on this for me? is it routine for them to do this? I dont mind them doing it as I've got nothing to hide, I just wasnt expecting it.

Hi all,
Seriously need some advice here, as i seem to be the victim of the ridiculousness of the credit rating roundabout.
Applied for a mortgage to buy a new house with my partner at the back end of last year. Couple of decision in priciples (one as a backup) and then the actual application. It was a resonable size £500k jointly with my parter, the offer was given no problem. Unfortunately through no fault of our own (new home that the builder could not complete) the purchase fell through.
In parallel i appled for a new credit card (lots of stuff to buy for a new house!), and to my amazement got turned down !!
Now I have NO adverse credit history, earn a pretty good wage with a multinational company whom i have been with for about 5 years.
Anyway to cut a long story short after investigation seems each of the mortage application stages did a credit search, so now my score is pants. Advice was wait 6 months and they will go away. So didn't need any credit for 6 months anyway as had to move into rented accomodation, but now it is time to move on again I tried again for a new CC.
Yep still turned down. How can this be, and how can I put it right ?
I have written to Experian who was quoted as doing the search to explain themselves, but I am sure you wise people also have some good advice.
Any help appreciated - Cross of Cambridge0 -
Are you on the electoral roll? That can make a big difference. also check all 3 agencies files, you may have something on one of them that shouldn't be there. also are your cards near the limit? If your debt is over 50% of you annual income that will make you a risk even if you dont miss payents..0

- Yes I am on the electoral roll
- Both cards only quote they use Experian
- No I have no debt currently due to not owning a house (quite the opposite a big pile of money in the bank !).
I think I'm just getting shafted for not making them any money !0 -
I have a ccj from exactly 6 years ago on my record, the date it was issued was 1/08/05. I paid £1100 in full about 6 weeks after the judgement. Stupidly I never really knew much about credit and CRA etc so never applied to have it amended as settled or anything so on my report it looks as I havent paid it. I know it is meant to come off after 6 years so will it drop off automatically or will I have to apply to the CRA to be removed? How long does it take? etc any help is very much apreciated.0

It will automatically drop off tomorrow and no-one will ever know you had a CCJI have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. However, any advice given is my own.0
