Hi wonder if someone can help, I've got quite a few old credit cards still on my credit file, after checking with equifax it almost looks like they are still open even though they were all settled and i'm sure closed years ago! Does anyone know how to be sure how to tell whether accounts are closed on the credit file?

Also, over the past 10 years i've been between my mothers house and my grandmothers, swapping over the addresses of where my statements etc have been sent to, problem is only recently i realised that my grandmother hadn't put me on the electoral role so i did it myself. On the electoral role it now says i've lived at my address since May even though i've been there for years, when applying for credit which should i put??? Please help!!

    Any help anybody? :)
  • The address where you are on the electoral role.
My son has had half a dozen rented addresses in the last 6 years, but his base and financial statements still come to the family home.
(He administers them on-line so he can be anywhere in the world).

Thanks for replying :) What i'm worried about is that my mum registered me on her electoral role from like 2003-2007 even though i wasn't living there and then i had to manually putmyself on the electoral role on my grandmothers (where i actually live) in may this year even though i've been there for years. On applications should i put that i've only lived there since may? or since 2007??

Tell the truth. If you consider you have been living there since 2007 then say that.

Is it just you and your grandmother living there? Was your grandmother getting the single person discount on council tax from 2007 until May? If so, she might be liable to repay that discount.

Yes she knows and i believe shes in the process of sorting that out with them, bless her shes a very honest lady and didn't realise my mum had taken me off her electoral role (she moved out of her house in 2007 and obvioulsy didn't put me on the new house). Ok well thanks i will try that next time i apply for something :)

Hi, I had the same problem where i was living at my address longer than actually on the electoral role, it does affect your score not been on the electoral role and when i applied for credit they asked for proof that id been at that address as long as i said i had, so had to send some utility bills and bank statements over the lasy few years that i wasnt on elec role. Lenders like to see 3 years normally

Its a pain! I know i've been there longer but to match up with my stupid credit file its almost like i should put i've only been there for a few months! Crazy thing is i've been back and forwards from the same house for 22 years, only moving out to live with other family members, but you can't explain that to a lender, it messes with their stupid automatic decision making machines :@
