It might also be worthwhile (no doubt you are looking into this anyway) in taking your current landlord to small claims court to cover the cost of your moving - which he is in effect forcing you to do - as he is not fixing a potentially fatal leak - outrageous. You deserve reccompence and should seek it given the time to do so :o

It's a complicated situation now with the landlord. She has eventually got a new boiler put in, but left us without heating for 5 weeks. She then gave me 2 days notice to vacate the premises for 4 days with my other half and 2 children. There are so many things that need doing in the place, including dodgy wiring that we think it's better to just move. It's one of those places that looks lovely but is a nightmare underneath it all.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I think I will approach the bank first.
I will ask my parents if I can go on the electoral roll there as it seems alot of hassle to change all my correnspondence to my address for 2 months, only to change it all again.
  • Hi I have spent a year working on my credit rating - on Credit Experian - I am now 628. However this is still poor. What are my cahances on being accepted for a new credit card as want to start transferring my visa bills onto cards with 0% or a lower interest rate as the interest rates on my cards mean im treading water and going no-where fast

Please help need advice as too scared to apply for fear of rejection and thus messing up my credit rating.

But having a carbon monoxide leak, no heating for 5 weeks,

    WHAT:eek::eek:

If you have a CM leak you should report it and have the gas decommissioned by Transco (now called National Grid) - see here: http://www.nationalgrid.com/uk/

However, as it is major you must pay to get it fixed and take the cost from the rent - you cannot (and are not expected to either) live with no heating! If anything, call National Grid and when they fix the leak, they could invoice the landlord direct (that will annoy them)...

a landlord that isn't registered to sub let with her mortgage company and also not registering our deposit

    See here: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TenancyDeposit/DG_066373

The landlord has to put your deposit in a TDS - if they have not then follow process and stop them hurting others and report it to the authorities... you are allowed to retain the last month/two rent to recoup your deposit if you feel the landlord will not return it. :p

Whatever you do, speak to a professional asap!

    Hello Forum

Question: If someone checks there Credit Files with all 3 CRA'S

Do the CRA's hand this information to the creditors, What I mean is my good friend has debt which is either 5/6 years old and he does not want to look into his account if the creditors will be given his current information as he has not been chased for these two debts for over 5 years

    I hope you understand

Oh quick message for Never in Doubt - We WON  with capital one - No longer on any of my accounts Yipppeeee:T:T:T:T:T:T

If you apply for credit and you have moved since the bad debt and not informed that creditor, nor created any address links between the current address and last address, then applying, and being honest about prior addresses, will create a link, and if the old bad debt is chased by a DCA who do a credit search, they will see the link and write to the linked address...

It is VERY VERY unlikely that this link isn't already in place, however, as such the risk is negligible.

A credit search doesn't in and of itself inform old creditors of your current whereabouts.

Then update my thread mate - lol.... wondered why you never got back to me!

Well done matey - excellent news - told you i'd get em for you :rotfl::rotfl:

By the way, re your question - do not order the credit file as it will flag to debt chasers (there is an entry on the CRA called trace searches) these will link to the dca that placed the search and they last 2 years.

If he knows its 4/5 years then wait - dont push it :o Bear in mind if he's in scotland like you mate, its 5 years to be statute barred.

    Sorry to sound thick!

My friends has never applied for nor had any credit at his current address which he has been for at for 5 years. So no link is current if that makes sense.

But when he applies for the CRA report they will place a "Linked address?"

Only if he discloses a previous address.

When applying for his credit report, he can say he has been living at his current address for six years, thereby not creating a link. The report will show under "Linked Addresses" if his current address is linked elsewhere.

If it is, then he should update the Credit Expert membership with all prior addresses to get a full picture of his credit file, the following day it will show up all the data at all addresses and give a clearer picture of what creditors see.

If there aren't any linked addresses when he gets his report through, then he should apply to lenders that only ask for prior addresses upto three years ago avoiding having to enter the old address and creating a link that wasn't previously there, and stand a better chance of approval.

EDIT: The outcome of a trace is only affected if the debtor creates a link that wasn't already there by disclosing a previous address during a credit report or credit scored application. The link would already be there if any accounts had been moved over from one address to the other i.e. mobile phone, bank account, credit card, etc.
