Firstly, I don't like the new look and the history but mostly it don't seem to work as well as the previous version did. I keep getting all sorts of odd things happening-today it said that firefox was running and that I had to close it or do a restart :p-it wasn't running so I went to IE.
I tried again and the only way to get it back on was the restart:mad:.
are thes just teething probs? Can I go back to firefox 2???

Of course you can install Firefox 2 again.

Simply uninstall firefox 3, and download Firefox 2 from here:

    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

Firefox 3 is still pretty new, so it's to be expected that it would have some problems. Maybe you should try it again in a few months to see if an updated version addresses your concerns.

Its not just me then, I got round the problem by stopping the Firefox process in the task manager.
It looks like it might be a comparability problem with other programmes but which I haven't a clue.
Clearly FF3 needs to learn how to play nicely with others:confused:
    BTW I'm running Vista HP.

I tried to stop it in the task manager too but it wasn't running:eek:--most odd:confused::confused:

Any way I'm back with f/fox 2 now but like a fool I made a mistake and opted to dump all my passwords and bookmarks:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:So that't something to keep me quiet for a couple of evenings.:D
  • Were you running extensions or add-ons with FF3, because I've not really heard of many stability issues with it at all?

Yeah, FF3 is been stable. Its likely you've got an extension that's playing up.
Or it could be flash, as I've heard lots of bad things about flash in FF.

Could be extensions I guess, I did have trouble with the Noia Extreme theme so i've deleted it for now. Aside from that I'm running:

    British English dictionary
    Flagfox
UK Threat Level ( I used to be paranoid but now i know they are out to get me!)
    Gmail notifier
    Google Toolbar
    IE View.

Try disabling them all, restart firefox, and try it like that for a day or so. If its all fine, start enabling them once a day, go through them until you start having problems.

I'm on basic Firefox 3.0.1 and it works fine.

It may not appear under the applications tab in task manager but it might be running under the process tab, just look for firefox.exe, if it's jumping around alot in the list, sort by name, then right click it and select end process. Then open firefox again and it should all be fine. This issue can occur in Firefox 2 as well so I wouldn't bother going back.

Went back to firefox 2 last night and things seem OK
A thought just happened to me:eek:-I updated the firmware on my netgear router about 2 days prior to the switch and I wonder if that may have any bearing on things?
Could I take the router back to it's original version state if it is the cause? or am I committed to it now:D
