I am about to have some building work done. I want to pay on credit card. I usually pay this off monthly but am thinking about a card for just this work, interest free with money back if possible. Which is the best card for this. I am looking at egg. The work will total about £2600

Can/will the people doing the building work accept payment by credit card?

If they can/will, will they charge a fee (or 2-3%) for doing so?

You say you're looking at Egg, and also say you want 0% AND cashback. You won't get both on the one card. Egg Money will give you 1% cashback, but no 0%. The Egg Card will give you around 13-14 months 0% but no cashback. Which is your preference? If it's Egg Money (for the cashback), then you're going to need a very good credit rating indeed to get anywhere near a £2.6K credit limit these days.

If you'd rather just get some cash (for 15 months at 0%), then consider the Virgin Money card. This product will pay cash into your current account, but will also charge you a one-off 2.98% fee for doing so.
