Hi,
Looking for sensible priced carparking near Bristol airport for the end of February. I am always nervous about leaving my car keys with anyone and have never done so... yet. Is this the only way I will get a good deal? (maybe I should bite the bullet as the car is not worth much. Just dont see why anyone should need to drive my car! If they need to move my car to squeeze more cars in, then that worries me. I really have a problem with anyone who needs my car keys) :cool:0 -

I don't think you will find anywhere that you don't have to leave your keys, apart from the airport's short stay car park, which will cost the proverbial arm and leg. Even if they don't intend to move your car, I think most services require you to leave your keys, for two reasons: a) to ensure you pay them for the full length of time you're parked and b) in case of emergency. Not hugely likely, I know, but suppose a neighbouring building goes up in smoke and the Fire Brigade suggest that your car be moved further away, it will be a lot less damaging if someone has the keys rather than if they just shift it. More likely is flooding, there was quite a lot around the airport at the end of last year!
We've used Silver Service, the mushroom farm, two of the pubs and most recently a local B&B - but on that occasion our flights were at civilised times and it 'worked' to start our holiday the night before, IYSWIM!
Our next trip is not so civilised, so I'm planning to use a taxi both ways (transport not running early enough, which is marginally cheaper than long stay parking for 10 days anyway.
If concerned about insurance etc, ask the provider.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Booked the Airport Tavern for 10 days recently flying out at 6:15am. Comedy of errors from the start.
- Website crashed as paying - phoned their office and they didn't seem surprised.
- Only manned by 1 guy so that if he is doing an airport run in the minibus you can't check in. He left just as we arrived.
- When he eventually returned he was swearing as the clutch on the minibus had gone.
- He sauntered over to get another minibus but informed us that the power steering was leaking on that.
- He was just about to set off when he realised he'd left his phone in the first one - so he then sauntered back again to the far side of the car park.
- Nearly 30 minutes after arriving at their office we eventually got to the terminal. If we had been able to drop off our key we could have walked it quicker.
Flying out again at 6:30am in a month's time and going to pay slightly more for the long-stay car park where the timing is totally in my control.0 -
Just to update this: we used WCP on our last trip. Flights were leaving late afternoon and arriving back about the same time, so we could have used public transport slightly cheaper, but there were other factors involved so we decided to hang the expense.
They will definitely move your car from their drop-off point to their on-site car park. They are further out than some of the others - 6 miles, they say 10 minutes to the airport, but take that with a pinch of salt and allow plenty of time, especially at peak traffic times. Personally I wouldn't want to leave less than an hour from arrival with them to getting to the airport.
Coming back we didn't have to wait long for their minibus, and our car was ready for us in the drop-off point. There's a Lidl a few yards down the road, so we picked up the essentials before driving home, and that was VERY useful. So we would use them again.
I found them via TopCashBack so got some cashback as well.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
We fly from Bristol a few times a year, have tried most of the small independent car parks:
Wagon & Horses - Good
Goblin Coombe - Very Good
Airport Tavern - Hit & Miss, we don't use them now
Silver Zone - Expensive for what it actually is
99% of the time it's best to book direct with the independents. I've managed to book the Wagon & Horses with a voucher code through Park and Go http://www.parkandgo.co.uk/ once or twice so it's worth a try.
If you're going to try for the Silver Zone then either the official Bristol Airport website http://www.bristolairport.co.uk/parking/silver-zone or Zoom Parking http://www.zoomparking.co.uk/ are the places to go. It's worth joining Bristol Airports Facebook page too because they dole out codes every now and then.
Personally we've been using Wagon and Horses alot this year. Goblin Coombe before that. Bus turns up on time, car never been damaged and the old guy on the bus is nice. Trying to rack my brains wondering if there was a reason we switched to Wagon & Horses but I think it's more convenience (Wagon is literally based on the road to the Airport) rather than anything having happened with Goblin.0 -
We are going to need a hotel near Bristol Airport at the end of our 1 week holiday. Anyone any suggestions?
Is it better to book hotel and parking separately?0 -

We have used, and I would use again, Stoneleigh B&B. You can either leave your car there and get them to run you to the airport, or park at the airport and drive to them afterwards. I'll leave you to work out which is best price-wise. We have used the airport parking, and off-airport parking at a couple of the pubs. You do need to allow plenty of time for transfers ...
One thing I would say is that if your incoming flight is a late one, I'd probably go for the Holiday Inn because I'd expect them to be staffed for 24/7 arrivals in a way the pubs and the B&B are not. I'm sure they'd accommodate you, but they're not set up for 24/7 IYKWIM.
Just found this link which lists a couple of hotels I wouldn't have thought of / didn't know existed, but Holiday Inn is the cheapest of the three. On the other hand, if you wanted a leisurely start to the following day, Cadbury House is lovely!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
The only true way to get a good deal on Parking at Bristol Airport is to do your research. There are loads of options and new parking providers appearing all the time. Don't just go straight to the first option you find even if its the Airports own parking.
Shop around and base your decision on overall value, consider, location, Price and security as well as word of mouth reputation.
I'll be setting up a blog with loads of information to help soon.0
