Deletion of internet registration after account closure!

Grrrrrrr

Just want to let off steam:

My T-mobile contract ended, so I asked (emailed) them to delete the web registration part, since it's no use (it no longer show my account/phone records). I don't want the potential of it being used fraudulently (since I won't be checking it regularly) and I will of course eventually forget I have it.

Why o why, despite numerous emails, dont they delete it? Why doesn't it happen automatically, once you close the account? It must cost them (a small amount of ) money to have it there?! Is it not against data protection?

Other offenders:-

Tesco compare (no competitive quotes)
Friday-ad
Direct line too (they just barred access to the log in grrrrrrr)

I just don't want to have loads of log ins!!! esp if they are of no use
