For 12 years I hated every job I had, usually the staff would be great but the actual role would bring me close to suicidal tedium by 9.10 am.
About 5 years ago I stumbled into a career, and love it, It gives me the drive and passion to succeed at what I do. Double my salary in less than 5 years helped a lot as well.0 -
i've had my fair share of cruddy jobs too, i think (hope!) it takes a while to sift through various positions till you find something you enjoy.
i think one of the most important things for me is having good colleagues, i've had some really bad jobs but when you get on with your workmates it makes it so much better. i've had several jobs where the management has been slack or just generally really bad, but the fact i've been in a team where everyone supported each other, worked hard and had a laugh has pretty much saved the job.
i do sympathise with you saying about being shoved in the back to do the crappiest jobs. that's happened to me a lot, i really don't think it's a reflection on your skills most of the time, i think managers have a thing for spotting 'troublemakers' (ie - bright, outspoken people who come up with their own solutions!) and putting them somewhere out of the way. i know it's annoying, but it's their loss
some people just don't appreciate a good employee when they see one! 0 -
im 41 and it took me until last year to find a job i LOVE.
i mean really love. i love going to work.
ive done shop work, call centre, cleaning, supermarket stacking shelves etc (all rubbish and soul destroying - for me).
i now work in a special needs school as a teaching assistant.
its an honour and a pleasure to go to work.
and they pay me - can you believe that.
they pay me to do something i love.
and they pay me twice as much as ive ever earned before.
and i get all the school holidays off.
my job is perfect xxxxx0 -
How long did you work in the coffee shop ? Sounds like making the drinks is a perk of seniority. I'm willing to bet they have served their time on the washing up. If you keep jumping from job to job you will always be the newbie and they usually get the worst jobs Im afraid. As for enjoying you Job Ive done a few and can honestly say Ive never been keen to go to work in the morning but I do for the money0

I've enjoyed most, if not all my jobs, including the dead end summer holiday student jobs.
If it's boring, I make it more fun! I've worked nightshift in factories, packed chocolate, and I even made toilet rim sticks for a while!! Talk to people, sing, set yourself mini challenges, mentally plan your weekends, sneakily listen to an audio book, play pranks on people, plan playing pranks on people.
If you're stuck in a job for 40 hours a week, you may as well do something you like, or at least make an effort to like it.
The bum tasks area always given to newbies, so you need to stick a job out for a while to get the more fun things to do.
What are you hoping to achieve with this psychology course?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

It wasn't a thing you did after being there for a while. We all started on the same day.0 -
Well if you up and left. Then without reasons if they hold any money they might make you wait for it or worse.. Seems you’re in a fix life is like that at times we make our own luck you are being negative about it all.. look at all your options you have had loads of jobs so you have something going for you..something maybe you yourself don't see..Take your time.. Maybe ask a friend what she / he thinks you’re doing wrong besides hating all the people you meet maybe you have an attitude problem ... good luck now you will hate me ,,,ahahah0
