  • Another key saver we found was dont spend an hr with the dyson get a sweat on an do the hoovering in 10 mins instead of taking ages ;) same goes for mowing the lawn if you have an electric lawnmower like ours.

We never replaced our bulb in the fridge when it stopped working ;)

My son uses his mobile as an alarm too. I don't have one though (never have) :D
  • i just worked out that on average gas costs us 27p per day and elec costs 1.50. Not sure if this is good or bad. Also I just took our bill and divided it by the days it covers - is that the best way to work it out?

    That's fine IF:
Your previous bill was not an estimate and your current bill was not an estimate.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:
  • thanks, no they were actual readings i put in for my account.

Also, remember that elec and gas use are seasonal for most of us. Use always goes up in the winter (well, for most of us, I'd imagine).

As for is it good or bad, it depends on what you can afford!
  • yeah...I can afford it right now...thats whats worrying me, come the dreaded winter :\ I really cant afford for it to take a massive leap up.

Well, little star, price rises aside, you probably know how much your bills will increase in winter from last year? Heating and tumble drier are the big changes for me.

Just had a letter from the electricity supplier - average use for mid-April to mid-July is £1.04 a day. (We're on prepay in a 2 bed flat with lots of spot lights )

Previous quarter was £1.20 a day (and one before that was £1.18 a day).

Still hoping to get that down some more, as winter months mean darker evenings and more lights etc. OH has agreed to getting dimmable energy saving bulbs in the front room (that's 3 x 40W at the moment) and we're planning on replacing the 5 bedroom candle bulbs too - but again need to be dimmable
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
