Birth certificate from 1998

Can someone please tell what information is on a birth certificate registered 1998?

Would it have the fathers name on it and maybe his occupation, or would it just have his mums details?

Thanks

my ds's birth certificate from 1999 showed:

    my details (inc. occupation)
    his father's details (inc. occupation)

BUT this was because his father came with me to register the birth - as we weren't married, his name and details would not have been entered on the certificate unless he was present.

It also depends on what kind of certificate it was. There are 'long' and 'short' versions. My kids have the short versions, but mine and dad's details are registered on the Register of Births.

You can request a copy of a birth certificate which will contain the details from the Register of Births.

a full birth certificate will hold all the details u asked about as long as the father was present.

a short one will just show the person's name and date of birth but noone of the parent's details.
Ignore reality. There's nothing you can do about it.
    I have done reading too!

Surely it'll also have these details if the parents are married!

Think about it! If the father weren't actually present the mother could put anyone down as the father!

I think there are/were ways of getting round it with letters (though they may have to be witnessed by certain people) for example if the father can't be there for example if he's in the Armed Forces and abroad

Or again, if the parents are married. Then the father doesn't have to be there but can still be detailed on the birth certificate.

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end

I can't speak for England / Wales but certainly in Scotland you can have the fathers details added to the birth certificate at a later date. There is a form you and the father can get from the registrar and fill it out then the details can be added.

The fathers details can also be added if he is not there through no fault of his own, such as he has sadly passed away or is in hospital or even in the forces. If I remember correctly the registrar takes a sworn statement as proof if you have no written proof such as a death certificate.

    Hope this helps.
