I need a very high spec PC for my work needs. Min spec required is as follows:

- Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 Prozessor (2,67 Ghz)
- 4 GByte RAM
- 2 x hard disk e.g.146 GByte, 10.000 rpm (1 hard disk sufficient but it is recommended to use 2 hard disks)

How much would it roughly cost to get one of these?

Does the software you are working with for it support 64bit?

Never mind the software, 64 bit would allow as much RAM as is wanted, so no hastle there.
Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.

If you go on to Dell's website, it allows you to build PC's to your spec, so you can see what addons and different specs cost what, and generally play around with the configurator.

I used it to build a super duper computer for a quote for a manager at work, but they worked out that I was going to install some air-ware when it turned up! Spoil sports!

Why don't you go for an Intel Q660 Quadcore and 8GB of RAM?

Do you need a monitor etc?

Did they ask for options? They want to know what a PC of this spec would cost, not what all the variations are? We could go on all day and fill this board up with differing varients and combinations......

Why can't people on this board just answer the question.

I've pointed aj9648 to the Dell's configurator which will allow them to see what it'll cost roughly.

Is it intended as a development workstation as opposed to a server?

Priced up a system with Quad Core Q6600, 4gb 800mhz memory and 2 x 150gb 10000rpm raptor HD in Raid configuration for a touch under £500 so anything around that mark would be a good price.
Doesn't include an OS but imagine you might have a license you can use anyway.
