Smoke free outdoor cooking

Hi all,
I hope this is the right place for this post...
We live in a smoke free zone, and I would like to know how this affects outdoor cooking, e.g. should our BBQ be gas or can it be charcoal? Looking further ahead I'd like to build a pizza oven in our garden - will the smoke free laws allow us to do this?
Thanks in advance, Steve.

I my experience either is going to generate smoke
don't we all live in smoke free zones now
not sure BBQ's count in that regard0 -
You can get oversize George Foreman's which shouldn't be too smoky, depending on your cooking ability. But then you might as well cook it on the grill in the kitchen and carry it outside.0

I think smoke free zones were set up to stop people burning up rubbish in their gardens as well as discouraging people from burning smokey fuels like coal. Don't think it was meant to stop people having the odd BBQ
(Wish my bluddy neighbour knew the meaning of smokefree zone...I think he thinks it applies to everyone else but him...sorry, off topic...)
