Life insurance informing of illness?

Hi all,
I took out two life policies a while ago, one with critical illness cover (Bupa and Legal and General). 7 months ago I developed Diabetes (which was excluded from the critical illness cover anyway).
I know its 7 months later but do I need to inform the companies of my Diabetes? Is it too late? Will it affect my cover/premium?
Thanks in advance.

You dont need to inform the life assurance company. Applications are a snapshot of when you take them out and what you know is coming up ahead. This was an unknown.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

Thanks dunstonh, that makes me feel better, however, in the event of any unfortunate circumstances I dont want them not to pay out as a result of not disclosing a disease I developed later. I know it was a snapshot at the time of taking out the life insurance but a wonder if you have to inform them?0 -
You only have to inform them if you knew about it at the time of application and didnt disclose it then. What happens years later is not an issue at all for existing business. Only if you wanted to increase cover or start a new plan.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Incase you didn't know, you do need to inform your car insurance company. Dvla are only notifiable if you take medication to control your blood glucose levels such as Metformin etc.(ie if you are a diet controlled diabetic, you do not need to inform DVLA)0
