Fujitsu Scenic E600, Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ, 512 RAM, 40GB HDD + 17 inch TFT at £149
Or this
Fujitsu Scenic E600, Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ, 512 RAM, 40GB HDD + 15 Inch TFT at £129
Would either of these be ok as a starting pc for a young lady. Just for emails, Facebook etc.

TBH, if it is just for emails and the internet (facebook etc.), anything will do and either of those would be fine. If she does start using it for other things though, she will soon find it is inadequate.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0

Other things? Be more specific.
I think that it will be adequate for most applications. Extra RAM is easily available.0 -
I dont think she will ever play games on it, but might do some browsing holidays etc.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0

The HDD might be a bit limiting if the young lady in question has a few pictures and songs on. Im near my 40GB limit with only 2years of use and not an extensive photo/music collection. I would suggest a higher HDD capacity for a start. The rest of the spec looks fine, but the RAM would probably be better if a little increased, or at least with the capacity for upgrade at a later date.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. They're fine for emails and facebook etc, but it is a is a refurbished PC and has just 3 months warranty. Also, if you have broadband at home, the PC doesn't have wireless internet so you would need to have it stationed next to the modem. If it is wireless, then you can get a £10 usb network dongle.
Is your max budget about £150?
Would she be interested in a laptop? An EEE Pc is less than £200 with 7" screen, or for about £220, an 8.9" Acer One.0 -
Spoken to bigpockets this comes without a back up disc.
Does this mean if it ever crashes youve had it. Or will the number be on the side of the tower and I will be able to use my XP disc but with her number:beer:Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
As you say, there should be a key on the side/top of the tower, though it may be an idea to check first.
Jay, an EEE would be fairly useless here. Its great for a laptop on the move, but with such a tiny hard drive, its no good as a home PC.0
