Just had a card through my door, it reads

Yours household has been chosen at random to take part in a forthcoming television audience survey to be conducted by TNS, an independent market research company. To ensure that the final results are accurate, we must interview a broad cross section of the UK population, including people who dont watch much television.

This survey is carried out for BARB (Broadcasters' Audience Research Board), the company that produces the official UK television ratings. You may have seen these figures in your daily newspaper. You will be visited by one of TNS's professional interviewers in the next few days, who will ask you questions about your household and ask if you are interested in taking part. They will carry official identification and all interviews are carried out within the MRS (Market Research Society) code of Conduct.

On the website its says they fit a meter to all the tvs in your house. what do you think - con or not?

TNS are a legitimate and sizable survey company and BARB is the organisation that collates and calculated viewing figures, so I think it's probably legit.

Our family has one of the BARB boxes. you just have to use an extra remote to key in who's watching. Think it connects to the TV with Scart.
Any each month there's a prize draw, everyone involved has an equal chance to win high street gift vouchers. Its very little work for a fairly decent prize.
