Fixing fake quoin stones?

DS is just coming to the end of a house build and wants quoin stones on the front of the house. He couldn't afford proper, built-in quoins but the stone mason supplied him with slices of stones that he could stick on.
The problem is that no-one (not even the stonemason who suggested them) knows how to fix them!
He currently has a pile of stones (Bathstone) that look like small, rectangular patio slabs and an empty wall.
The only suggestion he's had is that he gets thin strips of stainless steel (we can get these quite cheaply through a friend) and uses them as brackets, screwing one end to the back of the stone and the other to the wall.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Pink Grip or Gripfill similar solvent based grab adhesive will work on brick, but don't buy it from B N Q try a builders merchant. there are also some cladding adhesives out there. You could use Deco pierre quoins and sell the stone on.

Thanks, bigdoozer - I told him to get the plasterer to shape quoins out of plaster and use the stones as a patio, but he wasn't amused.

I hadn't thought of adhesives, (other than adding something to cement) - I think that could be a good option.
