Closing credit card

Ive just paid off a credit card and im now wanting to close it, do I need to ask for written confirmation or anything when I ohone to close it? Also when will it show as closed on my credit report?

Shouldn't be necessary to get something off them in writing but it doesn't hurt to ask if they could supply you with some confirmation that the account is closed.
Your credit report should be typically be updated within a month - depends on how often your card company provide updates to the credit reference agencies.0 -
My experience is that it takes a lot longer than one month.
They have to close it down internally first which can take 1-2 months.
Then 1-2 months to get it done on your credit report.
So could be anything between 1 and 4 monhs.0 -
I always phone to close cards and ask for written confirmation. My NatWest confirmation came within 10 days but my HSBC took 3 months :mad: and 3 follow up phone calls (dog with a bone syndrome) to get a letter from them.0
