Hi DB,
With regards to your food bill, I agree with others that it could be cut massivly...mine used to come in around the £350-400 mark for 4 of us (2 adults, 2 children) and I managed to cut right down by doin my shopping online, you think more about what you put in your 'trolley', you can click a button to take you straight to the value or BOGOF's etc.
You do have to pay a delivery (£3-6 depending on time of day), but you could potentially pay that in petrol costs.
I've halfed my bill, yet we always have more food in the house.
Good luck x
PS wanted to add i'm sorry to hear about your car x0 -

Thanks ST. Online shopping is a good idea - I could get it delivered on a Saturday I guess and that would set me up for the week. I need to do some serious meal planning and cut that bill. I also need to lose a lot of weight (been on antidepressants for well over a year and gained 3 stone - doc says I can come off them in a couple of weeks :T ) so meal planning will stop me snacking too.
And thanks re: the car. My own stupid, stupid fault and I feel sick every time I think about it - just lucky that nobody else was involved and that I came out without a scratch!Evil debts: £500 Halifax One CC (16%), £500 Ulster Bank CC (19%), £500 Halifax OD (16%), £850 A&L OD (0%)

£350 Needed for Car Repairs.I get paid on 26th August.
Ok..............heres your challenge:
Raise £150 from ebay ; You have 22 days to do it....
Ok, will let you off tonight.....so, 21 days...... 7 day listings....... gives you 2 weeks to get the monies paid into your bank etc.
On 26th August instead of drawing £350 to feed the whole neighbourhood!!!
Just draw £150.
£150 should be ample for 1 person. Thats approx £37.50 a week.
It may be a tight month for you but very easily do-able.
I wont bore you with all the "I spend, such and such etc....."
You have already Congratulated yourself on getting your debts right down, You are on very good wages, you have simply taken your eye off the ball, thats all.:D

I accept your challenge! Will get listing tomorrow night - right now I need to go to bed, have a litle cry and think about the fresh start I'm having tomorrow (which comes with a free lunch courtesy of a client - hurrah!)
thanks so much everyone. I'll definitely do the withdrawing cash for food and that being it for the month thing - and no stupid spending either. I have indeed taken my eye off the ball - way, way off the ball!

Thanks amyandjon ... cars are a total pain aren't they?!
re: internet - sadly, Sky don't do broadband around me - believe me I've tried - that and cheaper internet with o2 but they don't do it round here either! Got a very limited choice as I live in the back of beyond!
I'd love to clear the debts by Christmas and have a totally fresh start in January. I reckon it's totally do-able I just need to be a whole lot more disciplined than I currently am.Evil debts: £500 Halifax One CC (16%), £500 Ulster Bank CC (19%), £500 Halifax OD (16%), £850 A&L OD (0%)

Hey well done dumbbrunette, you're on the road to sorting everything out!
You know, you could maybe save £200 a month on food - and less than one month's saving would buy you a freezer! Come over to the Grocery Challenge on Old Style - you'll get loads of ideas and support. That deals with the healthy eating and losing weight too.....0 -
have you got room for a freezer?? look at freecycle if you do and pick one up. do you like pasta?? if so there is 101 meals you can make for literally pennys. make a serves 2 portion and take half to work next day for lunch.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

Thanks for your replies people - sorry I didn't reply earlier, I've been away from my computer.
Unfortunately I don't have room for a freezer - I downgraded to a teeny flat earlier in the year to save myself £70 a month in rent and to be nearer my mum/sister/boyfriend too. My fridge has a tiny freezer compartment but I'm not sure how much I trust it!
But I'll definitely head over to the old style board. My boyfriend is away this week/weekend so this weekend is going to my "get sorted" weekend - ebay listings, meal plans, budget and spending diary will all get started and be kept up!
Thanks again for taking an interest - it's a really big help to know I've got some support out there despite it all being down to my own stupidity!
