Hiya all
Im here again keeping this site working hard lol.
How do you connect via a ethernet cable to the PS3 from my PC, is it as simple as I have been told just plug in and go? The prob;ems I may encounter are because my PC is at one end of the room and the TV & PS3 at the other end, also no phone socket near the TV/PS3, so I would have to unplug the ethernet cable after finishing with the net on my PS3 Is this correct?
I know, I know, I am a technofobe, but I dont want to start something if I dont understand what I am doing properly.

do you have a wireless router or just a modem?0

I don't know much about the PS3, but I don't think you'd be wanting to plug it into your PC. It should be much easier to plug it into the broadband router you have instead, and need less configuring.
If its a long way away, doesn't the PS3 have built-in wireless? It may be easier to buy a wireless router instead, if that's the case.0 -
the ps3 has both, wifi and ethernet.
the OP didnt make it clear if they had just a modem or not0 -
Well, assuming he doesn't have wifi, its likely that the PC would only have one ethernet port anyway, meaning if he has an ethernet router, he couldn't plug the PS3 into it.
So, its probably safe to assume he has one of the cheap, ISP provided USB modems, and wants to use the ethernet port to bridge the connection allowing the PS3 to connect and use the connection. Its possible, but would probably be much easier to spend a little money on a wireless router.0 -
Who is your internet provider? Wondering if you are ADSL or Cable.
If Virgin you can plug the Ethernet cable straight from the Virgin Modem to the PS3, turn the Virgin box off and on and your away. Repeat the process when plugging back into the PC.
If your with ADSL do you have a router built into your modem with more than one ethernet port on the back?0 -

A lady with a ps3? Cool!
In that case, add an 's' in front of each 'he' in my previous post ^^
But yeah, do you have a USB modem, a router, or what?
Or if that goes over your head, how exactly is your PC connected to the internet? Ethernet cable from your PC into a box? if so, what does the box look like?0
