A few friends and i are looking to take 6 kids aged 13, 10, 9, 8, 4 & 2 on a camping holiday next summer. We are looking to tent it, as this is probably the cheapiest way. Does anyone know any good sites in the UK.
I require somewhere cheap!!!!
Preferably with a good supermarket.
Things to do, ie beach, pool, biking etc
Good/clean facilities
I just wondered if anyone had stayed at a fab site they could recommend.
Thanks.
ps
I would consider going abroad it it was a great site with lots to do near by! & on a fairly easy route from Dover.

A good website to make a start on is https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk. The forum is very active so you're sure to get the answers to your questions. My advice is to join the site and register yourself on one of their rallies. We went to Lickhill Manor with them this year with lots of others and paid £3.75 a night. They arrange events for the kids, it was a football match at Lickhill between kids and dads/parents. They also do a communal bbq in the evening where you take your own food, drink and portable bbq. Lots of other things going on, you join in as much or as little as you like. We had a great time and would certainly go again.
We camped 5 times this year, our first year of camping. I wouldnt advise going to the lake district on a Bank Hol weekend, we went to a very large site with great lake views, and minimal toilet and shower facilities. It was crammed to the gills and we actually were afraid that our tent would get run over during the night as everyone was camped so close together we were almost on the track/road.
Newton Mill near Bath is a lovely site, has a small shop, bar/restaurant, play area.
Northam Farm in Brean, Somerset is great, excellent toilets and showers and walking distance to everything going on in Brean.
Hope you have a great time.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

We went to a campsite in Rhayadr, Wales this year and I must say it is one of the best sites I have stayed at in the Uk. It's very clean with lots to do. A river runs along the bottom of the site which is very safe for paddling and small boats. There is a huge park next to it, loads of walks and lots to do in the vicinity. If you would like more details please let me know and I will dig out the details. Oh, it's cheap too!I haven't got one!0

It might be worth you joining the camping and caravanning club too- at £30 per year you then get info and access to lots of sites including lots of small certificated sites which only open in the summer and cost from about £5 per night. They give you a large book containing all this info so you may only want to join for one year.
Word of mouth is probably the best way to find out about sites as we all look for different things.ie. We visited Newton Mill in Bath in Aug 2005 with friends and for us it was a very poor experience and at nearly £25 per night we expected a lot more for our money. Surroundings were beautiful but we were packed in like sardines in a can and although fishing was advertised nobody in our party could use their rod as the stream was so low little children were playing in it quite safely.
If you go for sites with shop, swimming pool you etc will pay for it in the costs.
I also keep a little book and write a review after we have visited each camp, pros and cons and best place to site tent etc
 Happy camping!0

Last year we stayed at Holland Park in Brockenhurst in the New Forest, and it was fab. I really couldn't recommend it enough. The camp was lovely. Cows and horses wondering around. Loads to do near by (ie cycling in the forest, lakes, walks) and also a safeways and tesco's near by, so you didn't have to pay crazy park prices. That is the kinda thing i'm hoping for this year. All advice so far has been great. And any more received would be fab too. Thank you0

Wouldn't recommend Billing Aquadrome, there has been a lot of trouble there this year with robberies, tents being slashed, etc.
Have a look at https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk like Tiff suggests, you will get all the info you will need on there, the forum is very friendly, but be warned - it's as addictive as this one is!coffeebean0

I would reccommend woodclose park, near Kirkby Lonsdale, in cumbria, nice site only takes about 10 tents, close to the M6, the lakes and the dales, plenty to do near by, small shop on site supermarket in kirkby (Booths). It wasn't expensive, nice location walking distance of kirkby and devils bridge. lots of different places to visit. website is https://www.woodclosepark.com, the camping bit is to the side of the caravan park.
