Good and sound advice which get's mentioned over and over again in the Nintendo threads but seems to fall on deaf ears 99% of the time. If you really want Wii Fit then save yourselves time and money and order from Amazon in Germany or France. Step by step instructions have been posted many many times so use the search function and put an end to your Wii Fit woes.
Three questions always arise with buying from Germany and France... so here are some answers
The product will be exactly the same as the one you buy in the UK apart from the language on the paper cover and instruction booklet of the actual game. A minor annoyance BUT you absolutely have no use for them at all other than to keep the disc in. If it bothers you that much, you can download the UK cover insert here and replace it yourself. All the instructions you need are on screen and in English only (I understand the game defaults to the language of the country setting of your Wii console). The most difficult part of the set up is making sure that you have the board facing the right way... if you can't do that then you probably can't operate a computer and won't be reading this!
There's is no import duty as it is within the EU so the price you pay is whatever you are charged by Amazon.
Now I'm not 100% certain on this one but as far as I'm aware, that in the event of a fault, your warranty will be covered by Nintendo in the UK even though it has been bought from another country... I think as long as it's an EU country then you are covered. Having said that I also understand that, in Germany at least, you get a 2 year guarantee but Nintendo UK will only honour the standard 12month warranty.
We saw this last year with the Wii console and I think it's in the spirit of MSE to not allow yourselves to be bullied into paying over the odds for unnecessary add-ons and bundles by UK retailers who are exploiting the supply shortage to shift over priced accessories. Beyond the retailers, I'm certain this is a deliberate marketing ploy by Nintendo to keep the Wii consumer frenzy going by deliberately undersupplying stock and it will only get worse in the run up to Christmas. So act now, take your custom to the continent and show the likes of Game that you're "mad as hell and you're not gonna take it any more"."Whatever happened to string?"0 -
