I've had that with them three times today.... GRRRRR!!!! About time these shops got more sophisticated software that once something is in the basket it gives you time to checkout with it.
Chris
Had it twice today - a real pain! You're going through the process just fine, get to the very end and they're out of stock! VERY annoying! :mad:0 -

As I said there are a lot of people chasing a little stock, I don't think Nintendo are hording it, but boats can only carry so many units, are booked / planned months in advance and take a few weeks to sail from China. Theres usually a minimum month or two delay between any possible production ramping (if they even have spare capacity at the plant) and increased stock in stores. Even if they have more capacity they may not have the parts in hand to ramp up production, most places work to a "Just in Time" work flow, they can't just ramp up production as they need stock from suppliers, who then need to ramp up their production.
It won't be as simple as problems getting them to the UK, it's all down to availability from the factories and, quite simply, Nintendo aren't making enough and aren't likely to either. Severe Wii shortages are forecast for the USA in the run up to Christmas and that will likely apply to the UK as well - after all, if the USA can't get them then what chance do we have? And as for Wii Fit - well, I would expect that to be in even shorter supply than the Wii - if you think it's hard to get hold of Wii Fit now, just wait and see what it'll be like when people really start their early Christmas shopping, ie in September. Sorry, not being a doom-monger, just going on past experience (ie last year) and all the various reports and forecasts that I've read over the past few weeks.0 -

I didn't specifically mean John lewis. If people were not buying these and selling them at over inflated prices on Amazon/Ebay then there would be enough for the people who want them. There are plenty for sale over the £70 price on several websites. I think the problem is also caused because some people 'must have' and are willing to pay over and above. If people stopped started to say 'NO!' to rip offs them supply would probably keep up with demand because people/companies wouldn't be able to cash on in on people who are too daft to say NO to being ripped off. I haven't been to a concert for years now because I refuse to pay rip off prices on websites for my tickets. They are expensive enough at face value so I a refuse to pay any more. If people started to realise this and voted with their feet, rip off Britain would be a little less rip off imho.
At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their opinions. If people didn't buy in to 'must have now at any price' then I don't think we would be in this situation where companies are ripping people off or people are buying more than they need and selling on. My opinion and I am sticking with it :-)

For some reason I can't post the link to the stock checker but it's www (dot) wii pre order (dot) co (dot) uk (forwardslash) wii-fit (dot) aspx (make sure you omit the spaces) but if that doesn't work PM me and I'll pass it on. Leave the auto alert stock checker window open and add your email address (halfway down the page) for email updates on stock. John lewis has had stock in about 5 times since about 4pm today. Just remember to pre register with john lewis and have everything at hand to make payment!0

That's fine, I respect and understand your opinion.
Not sure if you were here a year ago but various members of this illustrious forum went through this same argument time and time and time again, all to no avail (except for a few arguments and general bad vibes). It really has been discussed to death and nothing has changed or is ever likely to, it's just the way things are in this capitalist society of ours. Much easier to just accept it and you'll be a slightly happier person.0
