I'm not in a position to buy anything much at the moment. But I've been reading all of the propery sections in the local papers as research.
All the major housebuilders now seem to be offering a raft of incentives to get buyers.
-stamp duty paid
-moving fees paid
-legal fees
-carpets
-white goods
In the last few months they've started offering £1K cash back for a year etc. Why not just knock £12K off the price then?
More recently they've offered "we'll sell your old house for you" deals.
And the very latest one I saw: "we'll pay off some of your debts "credit card, car loans, holiday loans etc". This was for £200K terrace houses. I presume that they want to make their homes affordable to people who might not otherwise be able to do it.
Anyway, it strikes me that the major players are working hard to shift their shiney new homes. Maybe this is all helping in the new climate of being realistic about prices. Hmmm, maybe I'll be able to afford something half decent then... sub £100K properties are becoming more and more common now.

Now where would people find the money to buy a nice BMW 316i (just like next door's), to go with their brand new house if the developers just knocked £12k off the asking price?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Ah right. Got to be a right muppet to buy a brand new 316 though when you can pick up better BMWs for much less 2nd hand.
So it's just another case of moving money around to create an illusion for those who don't think things through properly then?Happy chappy0 -
