A friend has tried to turn on the pc and heard a lot of clicking, it then came up with something about not being able to find the prime slave
Can anyone help please or is this terminal?

A Primary Slave and Master. There is also a Secondary Master and Slave
Clicking is not good, hard drive failing/poorly connected is a possibility, if the Bios cannot see the disk then you are in trouble.
Not terminal yet, needs a low level check over and (software) repair.
The hardware is looking for a Boot Partition which may be located on either the Primary or Secondary Master/Slave hard drives, simply put it cannot find it.0 -
Thanks for that TS
It looks like another trip to the repair shop then (it only had one last month thanks to a nasty)
Mind you, it is very old, so maybe time they replaced it.
Thanks again

If it had a service last month a cable could be loose, the clicking might be the fan/other wires touching the cpu cooler fan blades, take the side panel off and do a quick visual over the innards.0

My hard drive has been clicking for months. I know that this is not a good sign so I am desperately saving up for a new computer. I need a new one anyway but I don't want to have to go without a computer for any length of time if I can help it.

At the moment I just have a laptop but find desktops much more sturdier.
