Help Mistake made by bank on standing order

I set up a standing order last week to pay for the rent at my new flat. i set up the standing order over telephone banking inthe abbey national, i told the clerk over the phone the correct details.
The money has left my account but my landlord has reported that the money hasnt entered his account, i went into the bank today to check if the details were correct on the standing order. It turns out that one digit was incorrect on the account number of the account it was supposed to be paid in to. I reallly dont know how im going to get my 600 pound back, will the clerk be responsible for the mistake made or am i liable?
what is the normal procedure for these kinds of mistakes?
Any help or advice anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Stephen

Personally I would never ever set up a standing order by telephone.
Do it yourself online or fill in a form and take it to the bank.
The only way you will find out for sure who is to blame is to ask the bank if they will listen to your conversation - if its their fault I would expect them to put it right.
If its your fault I'm afraid you are on a sticky wicket.0
